Color Matching

ON May 26th, 2015, conservators from Conrad Schmitt Studios, Inc. examined samples provided by Bane-Nelson Inc. from the Hardy House Dining Room Wall. Findings are detailed below.

Colors were matched under natural daylight using the Munsell Color System, which identifies color by specific hue, value, and chroma. For purposes of interpretation, equivalent Sherwin Williams paint colors are also provided.

5) White Paint (possibly primer)

4) Pale Yellow (Between 10YR 8/6 AND 2.5Y 8/6) Similar to SW 2831 Classical Gold

3) Gray-Green (Munsell 5Y 5.5/2) Similar to SW 7740 Messenger Bag

2) Yellow (2.5Y 7.5/8) Similar to SW 6691 Glitzy Gold. This earliest extant layer is thin and deteriorated.
