St.  Anastasia Catholic Church

Fort Pierce, Florida

The priest and arts committee at St. Anastasia set out with a vision to bring a sense of tradition and historic character to their modern church building. In response, our team at Conrad Schmitt Studios developed a comprehensive design approach that included new murals, liturgical furnishings, and an updated layout that harmonizes the architecture of the existing building with the artistic sensibilities of the Italian High Renaissance.

MURALS

The newly designed reredos wall has been beautifully decorated in a Renaissance style, featuring three murals that harmonize with the new architecture. First, on the left, the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1–13) depicts the moment Christ strengthens the faith of Peter, James, and John prior to His Passion. The central, rounded arch framing the tabernacle highlights the Trinity of the Holy Spirit, God the Father, and Christ during His ascension. Lastly, on the right, the Pentecost (Acts 2:1–15), which occurs fifty days after Easter, symbolizes the birth of the Christian Church. Together, these murals present a chronological visual journey.

The tabernacle and Cross/Corpus were carefully retained from the original church and integrated with the new sanctuary layout, honoring its history. Looking closely, surrounding mural, a Latin inscription of the Glory Be pays tribute to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

FURNISHINGS

New custom church furnishings, including the reredos, altar, communion railing, stations of the cross, pews and baptismal font, were designed by us in collaboration with New Holland Church Furniture and expertly crafted by their team. Following installation, gilded accents were applied to enhance the elegance and detail of these works.
